Corgi Survives Avalanche

Assumed to have died in an avalanche that killed one of his owners on New Year's Eve, an exhausted and hungry corgi dog was found on Wednesday by the door of the motel room that the family had occupied four days earlier.

On Thursday a skier followed the dog's trek back to the site and found proof that the corgi had indeed been buried alive, about 40 feet below where the body of his owner was found on Saturday, and dug his way out of the avalanche and then walked four miles on his stubby legs back to Cooke City, Montana, in temperatures that dipped into the teens at night. The corgi has since been united with his family in Bozeman.
