Truth in Advertising!

Having a rare free weekend day off, I decided that Gracie really needed a bath. She hasn't had one since late summer and was pretty dirty. I had purchased a bottle of FURminator deShedding shampoo in late fall, but hadn't tried it yet. So since she's at the early stages of blowing her coat, I thought it would be a good time to give it a try.

The minute the water starts to fill the bathtub, Gracie's on the run. She knows that the only time we use the tub (instead of the shower) is when she gets a bath. Once I finally track her down and herd her into the bathroom, we can get started.

Well, there are a few things you should know.
#1 - the shampoo smells like a Piña Colada. Not a bad thing, I guess. The shampoo has a stronger smell than Gracie did when I was done.
#2 - it doesn't create a lot of lather. It makes enough, but not foam everywhere. Which leads to a happy
#3 - it rinses out quickly and easily. Gracie really liked that part; got her out of the tub a lot faster.
And #4 - it works! You should've seen my bathroom. It looked like a blue merle blizzard struck. Fur everywhere, which increased at least three-fold when we were done and she flapped out. Unbelievable! Much more than the usual amount after her bath. Between that and the usual water spray, I wound up cleaning the entire bathroom. Of course I needed a shower by the time I got done.

I just towel her dry, since I don't have a dog dryer, and then I brush her out when she's almost dry. More fur; lots more. I throw it out in the yard for the birds. Most importantly, Gracie looks great! Her coat is nice and shiny and her little bit of fluff genes are really showing thru now. And she's soft and smells wonderful.

So now the dog is clean, the bathroom is clean and I'm clean. Gracie is snoozing by the radiator. The birds are re-upholstering their nests for the spring. And I'm ready for a nap. But it's nice to know that there's still truth in advertising. I can't imagine what the conditioner must do!

Should I tackle the nails today, too? Naaah!
